Sarada Peri is a speechwriter and communications strategist who has helped top leaders and thinkers — from Fortune 50 CEOs to the President of the United States — inspire and persuade audiences. She is the Founder of Peri Communications, where she works with corporate, political, and nonprofit executives on speeches, op-eds, narratives, messaging, presentations, speech delivery, and strategy. She also delivers communications workshops and trainings.
Sarada was Special Assistant to the President and Senior Speechwriter for President Barack Obama. Prior to joining the White House, she was a Principal at West Wing Writers. She was a speechwriter at the 2012, 2016 and 2020 Democratic National Conventions. In 2024 she was a co-manager of the convention speechwriting operation, shepherding more than 200 speeches from conception to the stage.
Her writing for clients has appeared in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, The Washington Post, and many other publications. She also writes under her own byline and offers political commentary in the media — learn more here.
Sarada has guest lectured at Harvard Kennedy School, Northwestern University, George Washington University, American University, and many other institutions. She is a Practitioner Senior Fellow at the University of Virginia Miller Center and serves on the Board of Advisors for the Tisch College of Civic Life at Tufts University.
A recovering policy wonk, Sarada worked on Capitol Hill as lead education and health care policy advisor to former Senator Mary Landrieu (D-LA). She started her career as a high school English teacher in New Orleans through Teach for America.
Sarada graduated from Tufts University and holds a Master in Public Policy from the Harvard Kennedy School.
